For photographers, few things are as rewarding as nailing a candid family session where everyone is truly in the moment, especially in a gorgeous like this one in East Islip during golden hour. Recently, photographer Michael John asked me to capture an all-candid shoot for his family. This session kicked off around 3:30 pm, thanks to daylight savings – giving us that rich, golden glow we love without the late-day chill.
Mike & his family came prepared with coordinated outfits that looked beautifully put-together yet simple, allowing each family member’s personality to shine without any distractions.
When the kids are genuinely having fun, the session takes on a life of its own, and this one was no exception. I so many opportunities to capture those magical, unscripted moments that families treasure. Sometimes, all it takes is letting the kids be themselves for their personalities to shine through.
