How Pinterest Can Help You Plan the Perfect Family Photo Session

Pinterest isn’t just for recipes and DIY projects — it can be a powerful tool when planning your photo session! I love when clients share their boards with me. It helps me understand your vision and see the bigger picture. Whether it’s outfit inspiration, color palettes, or overall mood, having a visual reference makes the entire process more intentional (and fun!).

Take Capri’s family session at Clark Gardens as an example. Capri, Nick, and their baby boy Tino wanted something meaningful and full of spring energy — Easter is their favorite holiday, after all. Since Clark Gardens is a special place to them, it was the perfect location to bring their vision to life. (If you’re curious about shooting there, here’s the permit info).

Capri shared a mood board ahead of time, which helped us plan every detail — from outfits and props, to the way I guided their posing during the shoot. The board gave me insight into the feeling they wanted to capture: bright, joyful, and full of love. Having that clear direction meant we could be creative while staying true to what mattered most to them.

So if you’re dreaming up your own session, don’t hesitate to start pinning! It’s a simple step that can make a huge difference when it comes time to plan outfits, choose a location, and create something that truly feels like you.
