Isabella & Nate’s Wedding at The Vineyards at Aquebogue

Isabella and Nate got married at The Vineyards at Aquebogue, tucked among the vines on Long Island’s North Fork — the kind of setting that hands a photographer good light before the day even starts. It was a wedding built on years of steadiness between the two of them, and that ease showed up in every part of the day.

Getting Ready

The morning started at Sound View Greenport, where Isabella and her friends got ready with the Long Island Sound just outside the window. There’s a particular kind of calm that comes with a beachfront getting-ready space. The sunlight bounced off the water and it set an unhurried tone that carried through the rest of the day. Next door, Nate and his groomsmen kept things easy and a little irreverent, the way groomsmen suites tend to go. Isabella and Nate did a first touch before heading to the venue.

First Look & Portraits

Once the wedding party made the short drive to The Vineyards at Aquebogue, we carved out time for a first look before the vineyard filled with guests. Golf cart rides through the rows made for some of my favorite frames of the day, followed by family formals and bridal party portraits against the vines. Golden hour showed up right on cue.

The Ceremony

Isabella and Nate pivoted to an inside ceremony to dodge the rain. It was a short, warm ceremony where you can feel the room holding its breath during the vows.

Cocktail Hour & Reception

Cocktail hour spilled out onto the vine-draped covered patio while the Grand Ballroom was set for dinner. From the grand entrance on, the night moved fast — first dance, parent dances, toasts that had the room equal parts laughing and reaching for tissues. Atomic Funk Project kept the dance floor packed from dinner through the very last song, which is exactly what you want from a wedding band.

Days like this one are a good reminder of why I love shooting weddings out on the North Fork — the setting does a lot of the work, but it’s still the people in the room who make it worth photographing.
