Valerie and Julian’s baby shower brought an “enchanted to meet you” garden party to life at Westbury Manor. Lavender and blush pink colors were woven through every detail, from the tablescape to the florals to the desserts. The theme leaned whimsical and soft and photographed beautifully.
Westbury Manor’s landscaped grounds and formal architecture gave us a perfect setting for some maternity photos as well. I love how this venue carves out time for its hosts to take formal photos on the grounds. We stepped out of their shower for about a half hour and got beautiful photos Valerie and Julien can hang in their home.
I photographed Valerie and Julian’s proposal, and later their town hall wedding (more on how to plan one here), so walking into their baby shower felt less like meeting clients and more like catching up with old friends. Their families were there too, many of the same faces from the wedding, which gave the day an easy, familiar warmth that’s hard to manufacture and lovely to photograph.
It’s nice to feel comfortable with my clients, to have that kind of history where we already know each other. Valerie and Julian are due in three months, and I’m looking forward to being there for their next milestones. Getting to follow a couple through proposal, wedding, and now a baby on the way is not something that happens with every client, and I don’t take it for granted.
