Some couples pick a location because it photographs well. Jackie and Tom picked Northport because it’s theirs — the village where they’ve spent countless weekends, the harbor they know by heart, and the streets that have quietly become the backdrop of their relationship. When it came time to plan their engagement session, there was really only one place it could happen.
We started the afternoon at Sand City Brewing Co. on Main Street, a fitting nod to a spot that’s seen its share of their easy, unhurried Northport days. The brewery takes its name from the village’s own history — Northport was once home to a string of sand mines in the late 1800s, sand that helped build the streets and bridges of Manhattan itself — and there’s something about that layered, working-harbor character that suits Jackie and Tom’s story. We kept things relaxed here, catching genuine laughs and quiet in-between moments before making our way toward the water.
From there, we wandered through Northport Village Park, letting the tree-lined paths and harbor views do the talking. This is the kind of setting that doesn’t need much direction. The light filters in naturally, the backdrop is already beautiful, and two people who are comfortable together just look like themselves.
We closed out the session where Jackie and Tom’s Northport really lives: on a friend’s private dock along the harbor, timed for golden hour. As the light softened into that late-day gold the harbor is known for, we even got them out on the boat for a handful of frames — quiet water, low sun, and two people who clearly can’t wait for what’s next.
